We recently saw the musical "In The Heights" and totally recommend it! The lyrics are clever and the singing & dancing leave you feeling happy. The theme of the play in my simple mind seems to have most of the characters unhappy in their current situation. Each character feels he or she will be happier when some major change happens. One character will be happier when he goes on a vacation to the Dominican Republic. One will be happier when she moves her beauty salon into a new space. One will be happier when he or she wins the lottery.
What does this have to do with a faux mantel? Well, our sweet little home doesn't have a fireplace and I always think, "our home will feel more complete when..." (in this case it would feel more complete if we had a mantel). So, here's a fabulous step-by-step tutorial to create your very own mantel.
