I don't know if the Fairmont Hotel was prepared for the kid to parent ratio last weekend! Kids certainly outnumbered the adults and did they sure have fun! Visiting cities has totally changed with two little ones. Hopefully, this gives you a few ideas of some kid-friendly adventures in the beautiful city of San Francisco.
Where to stay WITH kids:
You know you're in a kid-friendly place when at check-in, the kids were given chocolates and stuffed animals. The rooms are great. 2-bedroom, 2-bath, kitchen, dining room and living room.

Prior to the kids waking up, go for an early morning run along the water.
Kid activities:
Walk thru Fort Mason (check out this view!)...
(there's a farmer's market Saturday mornings)
and go play at this park. How cute is that mini Golden Gate Bridge!?
Don't feel like walking this far or the weather isn't ideal?
Peekadoodle on Ghiradelli square is a great option.
Grab a sack lunch and take the boat to Alcatraz.
Little man and his milk.
There's a great book for pre-teens/teens recommended by some of the cousins:
Our little ones are three and one and they still enjoyed the boat ride & the sites.
Looks like I have more in common with the inmates than I thought: chambray shirts!
It's warm inside the boat and nice and crisp outside, so dress accordingly.
Walk along the piers to Fisherman's Grotto for dinner.
Share a "Sprite on the rocks" - little man's drink of choice this trip.
I found out both little ones enjoy calamari!
Spend a morning at the Academy of Sciences.
You could spend hours here! This photo shows a controlled environment - their version of a rainforest. It was so impressive! There's so much to see and do.
Stop to snap some pictures at the Golden Gate Bridge.
Have dinner along the water. (check out the cousins bonding over iPads post-dinner!)
Visit the Redwoods.
Go shopping at Gump's. Have lunch at the Rotunda at Neiman's.
Gump's has lots of breakables, but has a darling children's section.
Little man proudly shows off his new finger lasers from Gump's.
A few more things to be sure and do:
-drive the kids down Lombard Street
-lots of hot chocolate or ice cream sundaes at Ghirardelli's
-enjoy the little shops in Ghirardelli Square
-Ride the carousel at Golden Gate Park
-Bob's donuts
-House of Nanking for lunch or dinner. There's nothing kid-friendly about this place (no high chairs, no booster seats, strollers don't even fit by the tables!), but it's worth it.
-shopping for kids winter gear at the North Face Outlet in Berkeley.
Do whatever necessary to keep little ones contented on the flight home and have fun!
xo!

Oh I miss Charley already! Those photos are too cute!
